Mitt Romney Paid More Taxes Than Required, Raising Rate to 14.1 Percent

Via his campaign: “He was in the unique position of having made a commitment to the public that his tax rate would be above 13%.  He directed his preparers to ensure that he is consistent with that statement.”
Interestingly, he told ABC News in July that he would not pay more in taxes “than are legally due. And, frankly, if I had paid more than are legally due I don’t think I’d be qualified to become president. I’d think people would want me to follow the law and pay only what the tax code requires.”
And in January he said,  “I pay all the taxes that are legally required and not a dollar more. I don’t think you want someone as the candidate for president who pays more taxes than he owes.”
Is he disqualifying himself?

The Mormon Card
Via Daily Beast

"The Obama White House may not make Mormonism an issue directly, but that doesn’t mean that the incumbent won’t benefit from the coverage that Romney’s religion will inevitably receive. And it’s possible that Romney would stand to gain if he spoke more directly and in more detail about a worldview that’s clearly at the heart of his identity, and that provides one of the most authentic and deeply-felt influences on his often inauthentic-seeming personality. In one form or another, there will be plenty of attempts to define Romney’s religion for him, and he might be better off doing his own defining first."

FOX NEWS SUGGESTS President Obama’s appearance on NBC’s Late Night with Jimmy Fallon is somehow denigrating the office of the presidency. Looks like Mitt Romney's pissed off about Etch A Sketches tonight.

shortformblog:

A Rick Santorum spokeswoman was handing out Etch A Sketches before a Mitt Romney town hall Wednesday in Arbutus, Md., furthering the goading of the GOP front runner after a gaffe by his campaign earlier in the day.

And it apparently worked. After the event, Romney shot back at reporters who quizzed him about it.

“I’m not doing a press conference right now, OK?” a testy Romney said, grabbing a reporter’s tape recorder. He then hastily called a media avail and took one question.

Did he shake the tape recorder like an Etch A Sketch, hoping he’d remove the question from the recording?
